Nort Station - Haymarket (Via Locks)

North Station MBTA - Haymaket MBTA via Charles River Locks and North Washington Street.

Enjoy an urban, meandering, adventuresome, and beautifull view of the Boston waterfront. Start out at North Station, with a great close-up view of the Zakim Bridge, and then cross the Charles over the Charles River Locks. Stop to watch a boat or two pass through, or keep on going, walking right across the giant lock gates. Cross the Charles again on the Washington Street Bridge, and slowly meander either back to North Station (the short route), or keep on going to Haymarket, to round out the last bit of that mile.

MBTA Orange or Green lines to Haymarket

Science Park - Community College

Enjoy a nice walk along some of Bostons waterfront, and see a little bit of Bostons industrial past as well. Get a close-up view of the Zakim bridge, and see the spot where the Boston Duck Tours splash down into the Charles. Walk along the riverfront by the Museum of Science, then head towards Community College crossing over 100 years+ of industrial Railroad growth.

Watertown, MA Charles River (Long Walk)

Walk along the beautiful Charles River, in its natural state, before it reaches Cambridge and Boston. Enjoy water smooth as glass, swans, ducks, and clean, quiet, fresh air. Go for a quick half mile stroll over the footbridge, or go all-out and walk the full three miles.

MBTA Trackless Trolley/Bus Route 71 Harvard to Watertown Square.

Meander along Boston’s waterfront, from the Moakley Courthouse, to historic Long Wharf. See everything from jets coming in low to land at Logan, the old Northern Ave swing bridge, and the myriad of boats crossing the harbor. Follow the Boston Harborwalk, a network of public pathways that includes most of the wharves and waterfront property on the harbor.

MBTA to the Courthouse station on the Silver Line [Waterfront] Route.
MBTA Blue Line to the Aquarium station.

The historic Customs Tower right on the waterfront.




This historic Northern Ave bridge at night, with ghostly people slowly sauntering across.





Esplinade - Copley

Charles - MGH to Copley Square via the Esplinade.
Length : 1.5 Miles

Walk from Charles MGH along the Esplinade, along the beautiful Charles River, and end up in the heart of Boston at Copley Square.

MBTA Red Line to Charles/MGH
